What does the Moto Secure App do?

In addition to providing you with access to your privacy and security controls, the Moto Secure App comes packed with extra protective capabilities so you can rest assured that your smartphone is free from data loss.

Secure folder

The secure folder feature allows you to hide apps or files in a special PIN-protected folder. In addition, by enabling Disguised Mode, you can hide apps or files that may contain sensitive information (such as banking apps, email accounts etc.) behind icons and names that wouldn’t indicate what is really within the folder.

Network protection

Connecting to any kind of network can be a risk, especially if it’s on public Wi-Fi. In some instances, you can fall victim to a “man-in-the-middle” attack when connected in this way. These attacks are where the hacker intercepts and relays messages between two parties who believe they are communicating directly with each other. This can then lead to you unknowingly supply valuable or sensitive data to cyber criminals. Our Network Protection feature minimises this and other such risks. As soon as a hotspot or Wi-Fi security issue is detected, you are notified so you can cease the connection if need be. Furthermore, you can restrict apps from using open connections to reduce the risk of data theft.

Lock screen security

We all fear losing our smartphone or losing the data held on it – thankfully, location features have allowed us to track a stolen item and either retrieve it or try to lock it remotely. In many cases, though, criminals simply shut off wireless and network signals to make your phone untraceable. With the lock screen security feature, you can configure the device to the settings you need, eliminating the chance for a thief to shut off your connectivity without unlocking the handset.

Pin pad scramble

If we don’t choose to use biometrics to sign into our mobile phones, we tend to use a quick and easy PIN. The problem is that prying eyes can work out your pin quite easily by noticing how you interact with the device. Pin Pad Scramble stops this by randomising the position of the numbers, allowing it to appear as if you enter a different PIN each time.

Privacy Dashboard

We all like to keep certain information safe and secure, but sometimes our devices can surprise us. It can be alarming to see that an app has access to your camera, contacts or messages, especially if the app accessing these parts of your device has no reason to do so. The Privacy Dashboard allows you to monitor app activity and manage permissions, update security and change privacy levels, all directly from the Moto Secure App.

How do I use Moto Secure on my Motorola Smartphone?

Using Moto Secure on any compatible Motorola smartphone is easy. Follow the steps below to activate the security features.

Setting up secure folder on Moto Secure

To set up a secure folder for the apps or media you wish to protect, simply complete the following steps:

• Go to Moto Secure > Secure Folder
• Follow the prompts on the screen
• Choose a lock method
• Touch + to add the apps you wish to add to the folder

If you forget how to log into your secure folder, you’ll need to delete the folder by going to Settings > Security (or security & privacy) > More security settings > Secure folder > Delete secure folder > Enter your password.

Adjusting settings within Secure Folder

If you need to alter the Secure Folder:

• Go to Moto Secure > Secure Folder
• Unlock Folder
• Touch ≡
• Choose the setting you wish to adjust

Setting up Network Protection on Moto Secure

Connecting to unsecure networks can put you at risk. Using Network Protection can help stop this. From Wi-Fi blocklists to Wi-Fi warnings, it’s a useful feature to take advantage of. To activate this:

• Go to Moto Secure > Network Protection
• Enable or disable your preferred options

Setting up Lock Screen Security on Moto Secure

Keeping your smartphone locked is an easy way to reduce the chance of accidental data transfer, or having criminals gain easy access to valuable files. Activate it by doing the following:

• Go to Moto Secure > Lock Screen Security
• Enable your preferences such as pin pad scramble, lock screen timeout and more

Setting up Auto Lock on Moto Secure

Ensure your smartphone locks when you’ve disconnected from trusted devices, or are no longer in areas where you have a trusted connection:

• Go to Moto Secure > Auto Lock
• Enable Auto Lock and add your trusted places or devices

Setting up security scan on Moto Secure

If your device is compromised, you’ll want to know what action to take. You’ll also want to ensure such issues can’t arise. Help increase that security by:

• Going to Moto Secure > Security Scan
• Hit View

Setting up Phishing Detection on Moto Secure

If you find yourself on a potentially risk website, Moto Secure will let you know. Activate this feature by:

• Enabling Use Phishing Detection
